Climate change isn’t just something happening “out there” - it affects our food, power, water, and weather right here in Dunoon. With extreme weather events becoming more frequent, have you ever wondered “what if…”?
What if our food distribution routes are disrupted, or climate change leads to shortages? What if we lose power for days – or longer? What if our water supply is compromised, or flooding occurs? What if extreme weather becomes more frequent and intense? In an increasingly unpredictable climate, it is vital for communities to be prepared for these possibilities in order to thrive.
This is why our volunteers at Grow Food Grow Dunoon are hosting a series of free get-together sessions for local people to discuss these topics.
As Grow Food Grow Dunoon volunteer and get-together host, Martin Gerrish, explains:
“Our climate is changing, there are important things that need to be taken care of in the light of this. There are things we can do within our community and personally to ease our transition through some of these changes”.
Each get-together will explore a specific theme and consider how to build and maintain community resilience in the face of the realities of climate change. You can book your free place using the links below.
Location: Grow Food Grow Dunoon Community Garden, Struan Lodge, Bencorrum Brae, Dunoon
Our get-together hosts, Kirsty Heron and Jef Carrick, warmly invite you along:
'We're looking forward to chatting with people about things that matter to us all, about how we can be ready for whatever the future brings.'
Spaces for each get-together are limited to 20 people and pre-booking is required (booking links below).
Refreshments will be available as well as indoor and outdoor seating options.
