About the project:

What’s on Dunoon is a website being developed by Dunoon Community Development Trust. Its main aim is to make local information about events, community venues, and groups and clubs more accessible to local people and visitors by bringing useful information together in one place.

Role Description:

As a Digital Buddy Volunteer, you will help people get the most out of the What’s on Dunoon website. You will support local people and visitors to find information and help registered users learn how to add and share information about their own events and activities.

The role includes:

  • Showing people how to navigate and use the What’s on Dunoon website and find information about local events, venues, and groups and clubs.

  • Supporting registered users to upload information about their own events and activities.

  • Helping to run information drop-in sessions at the Castle Gatehouse.

  • Taking part in outreach sessions at local venues, community groups, clubs and other organisations.

  • Sharing feedback from users to help us improve the website and make it as useful and accessible as possible.

Good to Know:

Training will be provided. Equipment and travel costs will also be provided.

Requirements:

  • Basic IT and digital skills.

  • A friendly and approachable manner.

  • Enjoyment of meeting and speaking with new people.

What you will get out of volunteering:

Through this role, you will become part of a small, friendly team working on projects that support the health and wellbeing of the community by connecting people with information about local events, activities and opportunities.

You will become a local information expert, developing a great overview of events, venues, groups and activities taking place across Dunoon and the wider Cowal area. You will also build your confidence and skills in supporting others with digital literacy and making information more accessible.

As a Digital Buddy, you will have opportunities to share your ideas and feedback and play an active role in shaping the development of What’s on Dunoon as a useful, inclusive and community-led resource.
