Developing the Young Workforce Scotland's Biggest Parents' Evening 2020 Dunoon is a chance for parents / carers and anyone else who is interested to come along and speak to people working as part of the Health & Social Care Partnership and as part of voluntary organisations. During the consultation period PLDP2 has been made available on the LDP2 webpage, in libraries and in Council offices. We have also held consultation events in Oban and Helensburgh. Following the events we have now posted the event display boards and a video presentation about PLDP2 on the LDP2 webpage. You may find these of help, especially if you couldn’t attend one of the events. Please note, the consultation will close at 12 noon on 23^rd January 2020. Click here ( for more information and to sign up. ** Craft Scotland Opportunities Apply to showcase at the Summer Show 2020 Deadline: 5pm, Wednesday 22 January 2020 Be part of Craft Scotland's annual selling exhibition during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, held from Friday 7 to Sunday 30 August 2020 in Edinburgh. ( The Summer Show showcases the work of over 30 designer/makers from across Scotland. Running for three weeks in Edinburgh, it gives locals and visitors to the capital the opportunity to explore high-quality, original, contemporary craft. Over 4,000 visitors from home and abroad come to view and buy craft, with trade buyers coming to source products and research for retail buying. Applications are invited from makers living and working in Scotland, across all craft disciplines and this opportunity is suitable for both established and emerging makers who produce affordable, high-quality craft. We welcome applications from talented new makers at all stages of their career and can offer extra support on how to make the most of the show. Over 40% of the participants who took part in the previous year's show had never taken part before. Apply to be a Workshop Leader at the Summer Show 2020 Deadline: 5pm, Wednesday 4 March 2020 ( We are also seeking experienced makers to deliver public-facing, paid-for workshops during the Summer Show. The selected makers will be required to design and deliver an engaging hands-on workshop giving participants an understanding of a making technique and the opportunity to make a piece of craft. The workshops should be creative, enjoyable and suitable for those with no previous making experience. ------------------------------------------------------------ ** Scottish Natural Heritage Plunge In! The Coasts & Waters Community Fund SNH has launched a new fund for #YCW2020 – Plunge In! The Coasts and Waters Community Fund – which creates new opportunities for communities to connect with their coasts, seas and freshwaters. The fund offers grants (£2,000 – £10,000) to help community groups participate in and celebrate #YCW2020 in their own way. ------------------------------------------------------------ 'We invite applications for a wide range of imaginative projects relating to our coasts and waters – projects might include, for example, plans for restoring habitats, carrying out local surveys or promoting and celebrating your local environment or wildlife. But we welcome your own ideas on how best to celebrate our coasts ( and waters ( . We want these projects to make a lasting difference to Scotland, so they should leave a legacy from the year – for example through improved skills and knowledge, or the creation of a resource for the local community. Nature Reserve Travel Grants of up to £500 are also available to allow groups of young people to connect with our coasts and waters by visiting one of Scotland’s many stunning national or local nature reserves. The fund will open for applications between 7 January and 28 February 2020. All projects must take place between April and December 2020. So why not Plunge In?! For any enquiries, contact ( Information for applicants and application forms are available here ( ** Community and Renewable Energy Scheme opens ------------------------------------------------------------ The Scottish Government's Community and Renewable Energy Scheme (CARES) is now open for applications. Help and funding is available for communities, charities, local authorities, housing associations and rural businesses looking to install renewables and get local energy projects up and running. Funding is available across three different grants and loans, designed to respond to the emergence of new innovative projects. The current funding round is open for applications until January 31. You can find out more about CARES funding here ( . ** Launch of new Rural Start-up Fund Forest Holidays and The Prince's Countryside Fund have launched a Rural Start-Up Fund to support entrepreneurs and start-up businesses in the UK countryside. A total of £5,000 is available in 2020, to be awarded to one winning business or shared between a number of rural startups. Applicants must be 18 and over, and embarking on a rural business venture. They must be able to demonstrate how their business will, in some manner, support rural communities, promote conservation of the countryside, or support rural sustainability.
